How Long will Men in the WBTS Burden Women with Eve’s Sin?

Ge 3:16 (NIV) To the woman he [Jehovah] said, “I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband and he will rule over you.” 1Co 14:33-35 (NIV) For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in church. Eph 5:25-26 (NIV) Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, Why are WBTS elders only men? Why are the WBTS Faithful and Discreet Slaves only men? What scripture justifies putting only men in leadership positions in the WBTS? Is it because of Jehovah’s judgment of Eve in Ge 3:16, Paul’s admonishment to follow the Law or local customs in Corinth in 1Co 14:33-35, or Paul telling wives to submit to their husbands in Eph 5:22-24? Jehovah passed judgment on Eve long ago, so why do men continue to burden women for Eve’s sin? Until an individual man is willing to sacrifice his life for his wife, others, or the congregation (Eph 5:25-26), he should not expect his wife or women to be submissive to him. Women should be in leadership positions of the WBTS. Men and women should be encouraged to be respectful to others at all times!

I have often wondered. If a religion believes that all sin is washed because of Jesus sacrifice, then that technically would mean that women would be released from that bond too. If they are released from that bond, then that would mean that the rules of the past would no longer apply. Funny how people like to make the quotes above to prove their point, but What about many other quotes. Like "ALL things are lawful, but not all things are advantageous". It means that the old laws do not apply but common sense does. What about all the admonishments to grow up and not be stumbled or judge because someone did something out of the norm for the law. Those scriptures never seem to get cited, even when they ARE the real context or reason for the letters written.

When will they stop?

As long as the old men are in charge, NEVER.

Well, there's a very simple Biblical explaination for all of this - the Bible was written by men and thus most religion is controlled by men!

I mean, really, if the men were REALLY in charge, Adam surely would've been able to b*tch-slap Eve before she ever put that piece of fruit from the tree of Knowledge to her lips! Instead HE ate the fruit, too. So, who really screwed up? Adam always could've said no, but he was just as weak, if not weaker than, Eve was. After all, HE had been in the Garden of Eden longer than Eve had, he had known Jehovah longer than Eve had, ergo in was pretty incumbent upon Adam to watch after Eve and show her the ropes and teach her how things were supposed to operate in the Garden. Well, naive Eve was talked into eating the fruit by a snake - OK, fine. So what if Eve was a little impressionable; she hadn't been around very long when compared to Adam. Adam, on the other hand, was there longer and knew what a snake was (remember, one of his jobs was to observe and name all the animals), he knew a snake couldn't talk and he knew that God said NOT to eat the fruit! Did he flat out say "No, Eve! We can't do that! You know the rules!"? No, he didn't say that. Did Adam at least say "You know, I'm pretty sure we shouldn't do this and even though a snake said it was ok, I think we better ask Jehovah first before we eat this"? No, Adam didn't say that, either. Adam was probably too busy thinking with the little head and did whatever Eve said. After all, I'm a guy and I know that my wife can pretty much get me to do whatever she wants if she's naked and has food. So.....

My take on the whole situation is that men felt pretty guilty about the whole thing. If Adam would've said no, maybe Eve would've gotten expelled from the Garden, but Adam would've been ok and Satan would've been proven an idiot. But, because of Adam's weakness, the human race got eternally screwed. So, it's so much easier to blame Eve and completely absolve Adam from his role in the whole thing. The "Original Sin" gets pinned on the woman, so the men get to be in charge. The End.

Great story, isn't it? Fast forward to the year 2010 and here we are still talking about a naked chick eating an apple. don't get me wrong, I like naked chicks and apples are pretty good, too, but what's all this got to do with now? Nothing, other than it just shows how guillible people are and are willing to do or accept almost anything if a guy with a bad hair cut and a cheap suit tells them that God said it, so they should believe it and that setles it. Religion. Great stuff.

1Ti 2:11-15 (NIV) A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I [Paul] do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, she must be silent. For Adam was not the one deceived, it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing – if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

Thank you to those who commented on this posting. To those who would like to post their comments, please keep them respectful to others and if possible share a scripture that relates to the initial posting. I understand that some postings in this blog may touch on sensitive issues and elicit strong emotions, but as Christians we should always be respectful to others and their beliefs, such as Jesus paying the temple tax (Mt 17:24-27) to placate the temple leaders. My personal objectives of this blog is to promote reading and understanding the Bible using Jehovah’s Holy Spirit that is inside of us instead of others interpreting the Bible in a legalistic manner for us as was done by many Jewish leaders while Jesus was on earth (and even by some religions today).

According to Paul in 2Ti 3:16 (NIV) “All Scripture is God-breathed . . . “, so what did Paul mean in 1Ti 2:12? Was Paul saying that women, who are not properly instructed should not teach, because in Paul’s letters he often praised the faithfulness of women? I personally agree with Dorktacular who posted a comment to this blog and believe that Jehovah was more disappointed with Adam than Eve because Jehovah’s punishment of Adam (Ge 3:17-19) was harsher than Eve’s punishment.
