JWS FORUM RULES

1.  Pornography - No pornographic material of ANY KIND will be allowed on ANY PART of this site.  This includes the Adult section.  Posting of pornographic material may result in IMMEDIATE and PERMANENT banning at administration's discretion.  There are plenty of other places to go for that, this will not be one of them.  This includes photographs, videos, and cartoons depicting nudity or lewd acts.

2.  Sockpuppeting - Multiple accounts from one IP address (unless it is verified that each account represents a separate user) are not permitted on JWS.  Doing so will result in IMMEDIATE and PERMANENT banning; you will NOT receive a warning.

3.  Obscenity - Flirting, innuendos, and general sexual discussion will only be permitted in the Adult section.  If it occurs on any other part of the site it will either be moved to the Adult section or removed altogether.  Try to keep it PG!

4.  Explicit Obscenity - While flirting, innuendos, and chat of a sexual nature will be allowed in the Adult section, excessively detailed “play-by-play” accounts of sexual activity (think "Penthouse Letters") will not be permitted.  The sole purpose of this site is JW support and should be treated as such.  If you would like to take your conversations to this level please move it to PM!

5.  Intolerance - Discrimination of any kind will NOT be tolerated!  Everyone is welcome on this forum and any inappropriate behavior will be dealt with on an individual basis with no consideration of a person’s race, gender, beliefs, sexual orientation, etc.  It is expected that the behavior of the site’s members will also reflect this sentiment. The use of racial or other discriminatory epithets will also not be tolerated.

6.  Personal Attacks - Disagreements are bound to arise between members from time to time.  Please respect all posters!  If you disagree with someone, don't attack the person, attack the idea.

7.  Foul language - It should not be used on the forum, with the exception of the Adult section.  There are many other ways to express yourself and you will most likely be more effective in getting your point across if swearing is avoided.  If you do wish to use some moderate expletives in your post, bleep certain parts of the word (i.e. a**, d*mn, etc.).

8.  Spamming - Contributing members of the community are welcome to post links to other sites they enjoy frequenting.  Anyone joining this site with the sole purpose of advertising (either on the forum or via private message), however, will be considered a spammer and appropriate action will be taken.

9. Privacy - No content from a private area of the site may be reposted in the public areas of this forum or on any other forum except by the author of the content. No PM sent through our system may be made public except with the permission of the parties that originated it. PM's may, however, be forwarded to mods.

10. Trolling and Baiting - Members are encouraged to maintain a civil tone regardless of the subject matter they are debating. Use of excessively inflammatory rhetoric that in our opinion is calculated to elicit a response rather than constructively express one's position will be grounds for moderation.

11. 30 Day Probation Period-All new members will be on a 30 day probation period, which means they will have no access to the Members only section. All other sections will be available for information, viewing and support.
It is our utmost concern that the privacy of all our members be upheld.



At the discretion of Administration (based on the seriousness of the offense) the breaking of any of rules 3 through 8 could warrant anywhere from “one warning before banning” to “three strikes and you’re out”.

Lately there has been some confusion regarding our policy regarding privacy, quoting, and reposting material found here on JWS and it has caused us to take a good look at our policies.

We found that we had no clear policy, and what we had was confusing and incomplete.

We have refined our previous policy into the following guidelines that we hope will serve our community better.

This is a public forum. The public areas of this forum can be read by anybody. Your ex-spouse, the elders in your congregation, your mom or dad, or any random person you can imagine.

There are private areas that are only accessible to registered members, these include member profiles, sending and receiving PM's, and the "private" and "adult" sections of the site.

This is not an ordinary forum in that what you post here can have far-reaching consequences in your real life. If your mother finds out from your posting at bike forums that you like to ride single speed bikes with no helmet, you might get a talking to, but it is rather unlikely your entire family and everybody you know will start shunning you.

Depending on your circumstances, that could be a very real possibility as a result of something you say here getting read by the wrong eyes.

The following actions have the potential to pose a risk to our members and are now prohibited.

1. Making any PM sent through our system public on this forum or any other without the express consent of the originator(s) of the content.

2. reposting anything originally posted in a private area of this site by someone else to a public area or on any other site without permission of the author. This includes member profiles

3. reposting anything posted by someone else to the public areas of this forum on any other site with identifying information regarding the author in such a way as to pose a risk to their identity or safety

This is really very simple, if you do not want what you have posted to be read by the public and possibly quoted elsewhere, you should either refrain from posting it, or post it in one of our private areas.

There was some question about copying material here from other sites and forums.

Material copied here from other sources should not be prohibited if:

1. It is not a violation of the privacy policy and guidelines of the site on which it was originally posted.

2. The source is linked if possible so the cited material can be viewed in it's original location and context.

3. The usage falls under "fair use" such as critical analysis, parody, or discussion.

We hope that these guidelines will clear up any confusion regarding our policies.
